General Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for effective inspection of the Cooperative's electric system to ensure proper construction and maintenance of distribution and transmission facilities to assure an adequate and reliable supply of electric energy; ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and construction standards, including but not limited to, National Electric Safety Code, RUS Construction, SECO specifications and safety guidelines.

Requirements

Education



* Minimum: Associate degree or vocational/technical school in an engineering related field.


* The equivalent of seven (7) years of directly related experience as Line Technician, Service Technician, Lead Line Designer, or work order inspector with a high school diploma or GED may be considered in lieu of degree.

Experience



* Minimum: Five (5) years of significant and relevant experience in electric system design, distribution line construction, or construction inspection with an electric utility, consultant, or construction firm.


* Preferred: Experience with drone, thermography, or radio interference inspections.


* Preferred: Understanding of NESC and RUS requirements.

Other Requirements



* Ability to operate a variety of office equipment, including a personal computer, printers, copy machines and telephone.

Additionally, will use digital cameras, laser range finders, and handheld computing devices.


* Ability to work irregular hours for assignment completion and flexibility to change scheduling and report to work on short notice during emergency situations.


* A valid Florida driver's license for regular driving privileges of a company vehicle; must have and maintain an acceptable driving record as determined by SECO Energy.


* Become certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the use of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) (i.e., drones) within one (1) year of employment unless authorized by the VP of Engineering.


* Frequent business travel to all areas of service territory required.


* Normal work hours shall be eight (8) hours between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday through Fridays.

Irregular hours in evenings and on weekends are possible during peak business times and during storm season.


* Successful completion of pre-employment background check, physical and drug screen.
