Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson is currently seeking a Senior Patent Counsel, Innovative Medicine R&D to join our Global Legal Organization located in Cambridge, MA; New Brunswick, NJ; San Diego, CA; or Spring House, PA.
 

As a Senior Patent Counsel, you will:



* Primarily support the Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicines R&D organization, and more specifically, the Discovery, Product Development and Supply team with a focus on antibody drug conjugates and radioligand therapeutics. 


* Provide a full range of patent support functions, including patent preparation and prosecution, freedom-to-operate analysis, rendering opinions, managing outside counsel, drafting and negotiating license and research collaboration agreements, due diligence support for business development, and client counseling. 


* Regularly make presentations and interact with the business regarding patent and intellectual property related contractual matters.

Qualifications:


* A minimum of an undergraduate degree in a biological related science is required; an advanced degree is preferred.


* A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school, admitted to the USPTO and licensed to practice in at least one state or the District of Columbia is required.


* Educational and/or work experience in the U.S.

or with a U.S.

based multinational corporation is preferred.


* A minimum of 5 years of life science patent experience at a law firm or in-house legal department of a multinational corporation is required.


* A demonstrated competency in the field of pharmaceutical drug discovery, development, and commercialization is required.


* The candidate must be fluent in both written and spoken English, be able to communicate effectively, and demonstrate the ability to counsel senior management.


* Technical proficiency in one or more of the following is preferred: antibody, antibody drug conjugates, and/or radioligand technologies, with a required competency for analyzing legal matters associated with the research, development, and commercialization of these technologies.
