Temporary Research Specialist I - DPSS

The County of Riverside's Human Resources Temporary Assignment Program (TAP) seeks a Temporary Research Specialist I to support the Department of Public Social Services.

This is a full-time position located in Riverside.

The incumbent will be assisting in gathering and analyzing data and running reports from the Child Welfare Services/Case Management System (CWS/CMS).

Will be supporting the unit's efforts to convert existing CWS/CMS reports to the new California Automated Response and Engagement System (CWS-CARES).

Running ongoing Microsoft Access reports.

The ideal candidate will understand relational databases and be able to transform data into visual formats.

Have knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel and Power BI.

Positions in this class are characterized by their ability to conduct the completion of comprehensive, complex project studies which involve statistical analyses and the design and application of appropriate research and survey methods to solve problems and draw conclusions related to efficient and effective program administration and management.

Duties are performed with instruction and guidance and require the utilization of initiative and judgment in problem solving activities.

• May assist in defining study populations and sample selection criteria; generating databases and writing queries and computer programs to produce ongoing and ad hoc reports; conducts surveys and interviews and administers questionnaire forms; collects and analyzes baseline and administrative data; performs random assignment of study subjects; and, periodically posts reports to the web site.

• Advises administrators of research findings and/or procedures; prepares narrative reports of findings with valid conclusions, projects program impacts, and predicts trends.
