Loan Processor III

Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing a variety of processing functions for conventional and government loans, while ensuring a timely, accurate and cost-effective support of the bank’s lending operations.  The incumbent ensures compliance in all areas of desktop underwriting, PMI, and secondary market guidelines, and meets timeline and objectives daily while handling customer inquiries and detecting deficiencies in the loan early in the process.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions


* Processes conventional, government and non-conforming mortgage loans from application to approval.


* Evaluates a borrower’s profile to determine whether the borrower qualifies for the program applied.


* Processes residential loan applications, verifies applicant credit, employment and reserves, and orders additional documentation to complete the loan file.


* Reviews and analyzes qualifying income documentations, property valuations, assets, and credit reports.


* Orders appraisals, verifications, and any other items required for loan approval.


* Responsible for identifying and clearing any/all associated fraud alerts on borrower identity and subject collateral.


* Maintains communication with borrowers throughout the loan process, assisting them with any questions and notifying them of any additional requirements. 


* Manages pipelines to assure timely execution of duties.


* Submits a well-documented and complete file to underwriting that is ready for approval or denial decision.


* Determines if Change of Circumstance guideline requirements apply, and initiates the appropriate re-disclosure process.


* Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information.

Job Requirements

Education:


* Associate’s degree in business or relevant field required.

Required:


* 4+ years of mortgage processing (including conventional and government loans).


* Experience with Desktop Underwriter, and thorough knowledge of the lending, processing, and underwriting guidelines of the Federal National Mortgage Association and United States Department of Agriculture.


* Familiarity with all federal and state banking regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act and the USA Patriot Act.


* Familiarity with all federal and state banking regulations pertaining to lending and consumer compliance, including fair lending laws.


* General knowledge of bank deposit and investment products and services.


* Thorough knowledge of mortgage program, loan policies, and loan processing functions and related requirements and procedures.


* Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, with the ability to learn other mortgage-related software programs.


* Must be proficient with the calculation of income and assets.
