Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Job Summary

As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), your main role is to provide daily nursing care to residents based on their individual care plans and assessments.

You will follow the direction of your supervisors to ensure all residents receive the support and services they need.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



* Resident Care & Safety:
+ Identify residents correctly before providing care or meals using wristbands or photo cards.
+ Assist residents with daily living activities, including dental care, bathing, dressing, and hair care.
+ Help residents with packing and moving their personal belongings during room transfers or discharge.
+ Transport residents to new rooms, vehicles, or for medical tests and appointments.
+ Assist with lifting, moving, and positioning residents into and out of beds, chairs, and other equipment.
+ Ensure residents' rooms are clean and prepared for their arrival (e.g., bed made, supplies ready).
+ Check on residents who are unable to call for help and answer all resident calls promptly.
+ Keep residents dry by changing soiled clothing and linens.
+ Measure and record vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, and respiration (TPRs), and weigh residents as instructed.
+ Provide after-meal care, including removing trays and cleaning residents' hands and faces.
+ Keep residents' water pitchers clean, filled with fresh water, and within easy reach.
+ Perform special treatments and restorative procedures as directed.
+ Honor a resident's refusal of treatment and report it to your supervisor.


* Documentation & Reporting:
+ Use only authorized abbreviations when documenting.
+ Record all information on charts and flow sheets in a descriptive and informative manner.
+ Report any changes in a resident's condition to the Nurse Supervisor as soon as possible.
+ Document and report all accidents, incidents, and injuries, including skin tears.
+ Immediately report if a resident is missing from the facility.
+ Report all complaints and grievances made by residents.
+ Record residents' food and fluid intake and report any changes in their eating habits.
+ Report any signs of pressure areas or skin breakdowns.
+ Report all allegations of resident abuse or theft of resident property.
+ Report any known or suspected unauthorized access to the facility's information system.


* Communication & Environment:
+ Create a warm, calm, and positive atmosphere for residents.
+ Introduce new residents to roommates and other personnel.
+ Participate in nursing reports at the beginning and end of each shift.
+ Communicate and cooperate with other staff to ensure adequate nursing services.
