Treatment Specialist

Treatment Specialist Position Summary:

The Treatment Specialist is primarily responsible for the provision of individual and family therapeutic services to children and families involved in the juvenile justice system.

The Treatment Specialist conducts assessments, develops treatment plans and works collaboratively with Department representatives/ caseworkers and families to achieve family stability and prevent placement and/or re-placement.

The Specialist also prepares court reports and provides testimony in family court as needed.

Treatment Specialist Job Responsibilities:


* Reviews program referrals and determines appropriateness of referral.


* Conducts intake assessments, including gathering data from parents, children, caseworkers and other relevant sources.


* Collaborates with probation to complete assessment and for Family Reunification cases collaborates with residential facility staff to assess readiness for discharge and discharge planning.


* Utilizes diagnostic and assessment information, develops preliminary and comprehensive treatment plans in collaboration with client system and the Juvenile Probation Department.


* Provides short-term and long-term therapeutic services to children and families, including individual and family sessions and case management services.

Treatment Specialist Qualifications:

Masters in Social Work or related clinical degree and one (1) year post-graduate experience in providing clinical services to families and children.

Prior related experience may be substituted for one (1) year post-graduate requirement.

Assessment and treatment planning experience needed.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must have a valid State of Texas driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

Pay: $19.23 per hour
