Senior Internal Audit Officer

About the Role
Position will perform operational and financial audits for credit card operations, including the evaluation of the internal control structure related to compliance with laws and regulations, policies, and procedures.  Position will independently manage low to moderate risk audits of credit card operations by completing the planning and risk assessment, review of staff auditor’s work providing mentoring when applicable, and prepare audit reports to summarize findings, root causes, and recommend corrective action.

Position is knowledgeable on Internal Audit standards and procedures, technical and audit skills, department processes and completes workpapers within Internal Audit Department Standards and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Standards. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities 


* Manage audit assignments that deliver testing of identified risk areas and appropriate corrective actions to improve controls related to compliance with laws and regulations, policies, and procedures.


* Conducts complex tests and prepares documentation to assess the effectiveness of internal controls.


* May perform planning and risk assessments to focus on highest risks, manage low to moderate risk audits within the assigned audit hours, review staff auditor’s workpapers for compliance with Internal Audit Procedures and the IIA Standards.


* Prepare findings and recommendations to enhance the control environment, draft the audit report. 


* Complete audits and special projects as assigned to assist Internal Audit Management accomplish the audit plan.


* Build on capabilities by participating in the planning of moderately high and high-risk audits.


* Enhance relationships with the business areas throughout the audit by providing value-added audit work and insightful feedback.

Skills and Qualifications 


* Knowledgeable on credit card operational and financial processes and PREMIER products and services.


* Knowledgeable on the IIA Standards and best practices.


* Applies knowledge and skills successfully, seeking assistance or escalating when a problem is encountered.


* Proficient at evaluating risk and analyzing testing results, while working independently and efficiently.


* Thorough, precise, detailed, and attentive approach to conducting work and documenting evidence.


* Advanced communication and organizational skills.


* Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or related field preferred.


* 3+ years of experience required or 5+ years of experience of experience preferred in auditing, accounting, risk management, internal controls or compliance.


* Credit card industry experience preferred.


* Professional certification related to audit, risks, or compliance preferred.
