Title: Analytical Specialist

Location:  Remote/Nationwide

Security Clearance: Moderate Risk Background Investigation (MBI)

Schedule: This is a full-time position that typically works business hours Monday through Friday.

Hours may vary depending on needs and may at times include travel, evenings, or weekends to meet specific project requirements or time zones.

Salary Range: $55,000-70,000

Job Summary: 

The Analytic Specialist provides critical data analysis, case support, and reporting functions for the NamUs program.

This role supports investigative and outreach activities through research, database queries, and the development of visual analytics, helping to resolve missing and unidentified person cases across jurisdictions. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


* Provide analytical support to forensic experts by organizing and interpreting biometric data (e.g., DNA, fingerprints, dental). 


* Assist with vetting and curating data for new or incomplete case entries to improve match potential and database accuracy. 


* Maintain dashboards and performance indicators for internal tracking and external reporting to NIJ and stakeholders. 


* Conduct database searches to identify possible leads or indicators of life in missing persons cases. 


* Support forensic and investigative efforts by developing maps, charts, and timelines. 


* Analyze and curate case data to enhance completeness and compatibility in the NamUs system. 


* Assist in compiling program metrics and performance reports for NIJ and partner agencies. 


* Respond to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and internal data queries. 


* Contribute to the development of outreach and training materials through data visualizations. 


* Collaborate with regional program staff to produce data-driven insights for stakeholder outreach and training efforts. 


* Identify patterns and trends in case data that inform strategic initiatives and highlight systemic gaps in reporting. 


* Assist in generating compliance reports related to case aging, data completeness, and forensic turnaround times.
