Job Purpose:
Provides a variety of quality control tests/inspections on products, materials, components, etc at various stages of the production process to ensure quality and reliability standards are met.

Ensures that the quality and integrity of materials being produced in the production process meet print, tolerances, and corporate standards.

Tests and inspects processes and products at various stages of the production process.

May suggest or recommend changes to improve quality.

Essential Functions:

Function % of Time Spent

Inspects finished goods, in-process parts, materials, and welds to ensure the end product meets the specifications required on the prints.

Inspects incoming materials and final product as necessary.

Performs first-piece inspections.

Documents inspections and non-conformities.

Collaborates with Quality department personnel and shop supervisors to resolve quality issues.

Recommends changes to improve quality and efficiency.

Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required including but not limited to other inspections as deemed necessary by management to ensure that quality products are being produced and shipped.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum 2 years of quality inspection experience in metal fabrication/welding.

American Welding Society or American Society for Quality experience/affiliation preferred.

Basic computer literacy including Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Ability to effectively communicate with shop-floor employees, engineers, and other Quality Department personnel.

Experience with calipers, micrometers, tape measures, weld inspection tools, and CMM.

Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings including GD&T.

Ability to identify potential quality problems, determine possible resolutions and work with Quality Department staff to implement preventative measures to ensure usable products are being made.

Must work effectively under pressure, exercise good judgment, and maintain confidentiality.
