Engineering Technician II

Summary of Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Electrical Technician II researches, plans, designs, develops, analyzes and tests a variety of electronic equipment and systems, including displays, sensors, processors, interface units and other electronic devices;

circuitry components; analog and digital computers; and control and test equipment.

Responsibilities and Tasks (listed in bullet format) in order of priority to be successful


* Perform design activities as assigned by supervisor


* Design and assembly of test equipment and circuits including board and cable assembly


* Produce preliminary reports and analysis


* Produce preliminary schematics


* Run validation testing


* Optimization of manufacturing processes,



* Implementation of cost reduction opportunities (yield and productivity improvements, waste elimination),



* Training production employees to improve work processes and product quality,



* Work to minimize or eliminate safety, quality, delivery, inventory and production issues.



* Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience & License or Certification


* Associate degree in an Engineering field (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, etc.) or over 5 years of related work experience



* 2+ years of technical experience in a manufacturing environment



* Experience with review/inspection of mechanical assemblies, optics and/or soldering



* PC proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required



* Experience training others



* Ability to obtain Security Clearance



* Must be able to comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations, Company Policies and Procedures



* A successful candidate will have proficiency in the use of hand and machine tools, precision gauges, test instruments, and process equipment.



* Preferred:



* Prior experience with one or more of the following: CRTs & optics, HUDs, RF, Radar, Power supply design, firmware, test software, JTAG, ICT, ESS


* J-STD soldering experience

* Must have the ability to work effectively within a team



* Good interpersonal and organizational skills are required



* Strong analytical abilities and trouble-shooting techniques



* Strong verbal and written communication skills
