Telecom Outside Plant Technician - OCONUS

Job Summary

Outside Plant Technician (OSP) is a telecommunications specialist responsible for installation, maintenance, and repairs of telecommunications infrastructure, primarily outdoors.

This includes aerial and underground cables, poles, and related hardware for voice, data, and video services.

Locations are in Greece, Italy, Poland, and Romania.

Essential Functions


* Provide OSP O&M to include, installing, inspecting, splicing, testing, repairing, replacing, upgrading and providing redline documentation for both copper and fiber optic backbone and distribution systems from the vertical frame to the end-user premise equipment in accordance with (IAW) standards.


* Resolve Incidents and Critical Incidents within specified timelines.


* Install and repair all outside cable plant cables/fiber optic cables via work orders.


* Implement and manage Planned Maintenance System (PMS) in accordance with original equipment manufacturer recommendations.

Competencies


* Cable/Fiber/Wire Installation.


* Voice/Data/Network Infrastructure Design.


* Ability to use electronic tests and repair equipment on telecommunications systems.


* Ability to clean and handle delicate electronic equipment.


* Ability to follow oral and written instructions.


* Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.


* Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing to convey technical information in non-technical teams.


* Ability to use a PC to organize work, generate records and reports and configure equipment.

Required Education and Experience


* Individual shall possess a minimum of five (5) years experience in installation and maintenance using telecommunications industry standards-based cabling distribution systems.


* Must be familiar with and be able to reference current TIA/EIA/One-Net standards.


* DoDD 8140.1 Cyberspace Workforce Management and M5239 (series) DON Cyberspace IT and Cybersecurity Workforce Management and Qualification, Defense Cyber Workforce Specialty Code 441, Journeyman level of expertise.


* T-1/PRI and VoIP Installations.


* Maintenance and Material Management (3-M) program, or commercial equivalent.


* Ability to obtain a security clearance.


* Valid driver's license.


* Valid passport.

Preferred Education and Experience


* Active DoD security clearance.


* Co-familiarity with Inside Plant O&M.
