Surgical Technician Per Diem - GI Services Department

The Riverside University Health System (RUHS) Medical Center is seeking qualified Per Diem Surgical Technicians to join our GI Services Department.

The Surgical Technician will assist physicians with GI procedures in the GI Lab and Operating Room, support Registered Nurses (RNs) with patient transport and positioning, and work closely with the care team to prepare for interventional procedures.

This role involves performing technical endoscopic tasks, cleaning and disinfecting GI scopes according to manufacturer's instructions for use (IFU), and ensuring procedure rooms are restocked and ready.

The technician will also follow infection control and safety standards while maintaining accurate documentation.

The Surgical Technician - Per Diem reports to a registered nurse during their scrub role and are under the direction of a Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager or charge nurse depending on their shift of assignment.

Surgical Technician - Per Diem positions are unique to the Operating Room of the Riverside University Health System-Medical Center and are characterized by the responsibility for performing the scrub role in a patient's surgical intervention and for administering nursing care to designated patients under the care and supervision of a registered nurse.

Preferred Qualifications:


* Completion of an acrredited Surgical Technician program (required)


* Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification (highly preferred)


* Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience supporting GI procedures


* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)


* Rotating On-Call shifts required


* Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)

Work Schedule:
4/10, with a weekday off
Hours: 7:00 am to 5:30 pm
Rotating On-call shifts required

Per Diem personnel are distinguished from regular employees in that they receive additional compensation in lieu of County fringe benefits and work assignments may be on a flexible work hour schedule.
