Reporting Specialist
The Report Specialist creates and compiles the company's final laboratory testing result summary using preapproved templates.
This job is more complex than standard data entry, as it requires interpretation of raw data and figures.
This role is responsible for balancing quality, accuracy and prompt/timely completion of the final product by having a central departmental focus to ensure appropriate consistencies across multiple tests.
Education and experience:
Required:
* HS Diploma or equivalent
* Typing speed of 50 WPM
* 10-Key proficiency
Preferred (Not Required):
* Prior experience in report writing, transcription or other relevant experience
Essential Duties:
General:
* Type, review, process, and perform corrections on all final report types
* Prepare letters, preliminary results and raw data, as needed
* Meet quality expectations of the team
* Initiate and ensure amended/duplicate report requests are being processed in a timely manner
* Process template requests: continually improve FRTs for team efficiency
* Act as a subject matter expert (SME) of the department, and have a strong knowledge base of other departments
* Read and interpret template data
Competencies of this position
* Data entry and interpretation skills
* Basic math, such as rounding and significant figures
* Effective task prioritization
* Proofreading, revising, and editing skills including use an interpretation of templates
* Demonstrate typing at a minimum of 50 wpm with ≥90% accuracy
* Proficient at 10-key
* Internet search abilities
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word
* Team-focused and driven to accomplish tasks efficiently
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office and laboratory environment.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, keyboards, computer mouse, telephones, photocopiers, projectors and file cabinets.
Wear personal protective equipment such as lab coats, safety glasses, gloves, facemasks, as applicable.
Physical requirements:
Must be able to spend up to 95% of scheduled shift sitting at a desk on a computer and the remaining time standing or walking.
This position may require occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
To avoid experiencing symptoms of discomfort, minimal levels of adequate visual skills are necessary, such as accommodation (eye-focusing ability: view small details [misplaced period, etc.]) and binocular vision (coordination of both eyes: depth perception).
