Controller
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage all day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, fixed asset tracking and tax compliance.
* Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
* Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
* Oversee internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies.
* Coordinate annual audits and liaise with external auditors and tax advisors.
* Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts; monitor actual performance against budget and report on variances.
* Assist in analyzing manufacturing costs, including direct materials, direct labor, and manufacturing overhead and ensuring accurate inventory valuation
* Setting up and administering royalties in accordance with contracts; addressing and resolving issues with authors and editors.
* Support cash flow management and analysis.
* Supervise and mentor finance staff, fostering professional growth and a high-performance culture.
* Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
* Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Skills & Competencies:
* Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls in a multi-entity environment.
* Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office.
* Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* High integrity and commitment to ethical conduct.
Salary range of $120-130k plus benefits and discretionary annual bonus.
Experience
Required
* 5 year(s): Progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Education
Preferred
* Bachelors or better in Accounting or related field
