SWG Commissioning Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Switchgear Commissioning Engineer to lead and support the commissioning of advanced electrical and cooling systems.
This role involves hands-on testing, detailed documentation, and close collaboration with engineering, production, and service teams to ensure high-quality project delivery.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
What will you do?
* Lead and document Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), with a primary focus on Low Voltage Switchgear
* Perform project start-up activities in the factory and verify system performance prior to shipment, including:
+ Secondary injection testing
+ Contact resistance testing
+ Insulation resistance testing
* Support production and service departments with technical expertise
* Conduct pre-energization checks such as:
+ HiPot testing
+ Ground continuity verification
+ Power setup activities
* Assign and complete functional test templates
* Ensure power sign-off by cross-functional teams and complete all commissioning scripts
* Report lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
What skills and capabilities will make you successful?
Technical Expertise
* Strong understanding of AC/DC power principles
* Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
* Skilled in using test and diagnostic equipment
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and general IT systems
* Familiarity with power/control systems, PLCs, and NEC standards (preferred)
Communication & Documentation
* Strong report writing and documentation skills
* Ability to write service reports, procedures, and professional correspondence
* Excellent verbal communication skills
* Willingness to be cross-trained across multiple functions based on business needs
Safety & Compliance
* Adherence to safety policies and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
* Awareness of NFPA-70E or OSHA standards (preferred)
* Ability to identify and report workplace hazards
* Willingness to work occasional weekends and overtime based on workload
