Fire Communications Supervisor
The Riverside County Fire Department has an opportunity for a Fire Communications Supervisor in Perris.
As a Fire Communications Supervisor, the incumbent will supervise Fire Communications Dispatchers engaged in operating computer-assisted communications equipment at the Fire Department's Emergency Command Centers (ECC) on an assigned shift, assist in the management of the ECC, and perform other related duties as required.
The Fire Communications Supervisor is the full supervisory level classification in the Fire Communications series and reports directly to the Fire Communications Manager.
This class is characterized by the responsibility to oversee and supervise subordinate staff on an assigned shift engaged in dispatching emergency and routine calls on a countywide basis.
Fire Communications Supervisors are also responsible for assisting in the administration of the ECC.
The Fire Communications Supervisor is distinguished from the Senior Fire Communications Dispatcher classification in that the latter serves in a lead position without full supervisory authority.

Who May Apply
This recruitment is only open to current employees of the Riverside County Fire Department.• Schedule, assign, and supervise the work of all subordinates on an assigned shift; resolve and report on disciplinary problems with staff; refer more sensitive or serious disciplinary problems and recommend disciplinary action to management.
• Work with other supervisory and management staff in developing initial and ongoing Fire Communications Dispatcher training programs; participate in the interviewing and selecting of personnel.
• Study and evaluate existing procedures and internal policies and recommend new or revised procedures and policies pertaining to efficient and effective ECC operation; prepare and update manuals of procedures pertaining to operations and implementation of policies, and instruct staff members in their use.
• Request and review computer-generated statistical workload reports for purposes of assessing training needs, determining staffing requirements, and adherence to established procedures and regulations.
• Review the performance of subordinate personnel for adherence to policies, procedures, and established work performance standards; compose written annual and special employee performance evaluations for management approval.
