Supervising Animal Services Counselor

The Riverside County Department of Animal Services is seeking multiple Supervising Animal Services Counselor positions throughout Riverside County.

The Supervising Animal Services Counselor positions will be assigned to a team within Animal Services, the teams within the Department are Volunteer, Adoption, Rescue/Transport, and Foster.

Positions and Team can be based out of one of four shelters in Riverside County, including Jurupa, San Jacinto, Coachella Valley and Blythe.

This recruitment may be used to fill positions for various locations.

The Supervising Animal Services Counselor will oversee day-to-day operations and provide training to Animal Services Counselors.

They are responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising animal intake processes, with a primary focus on enhancing animal outcomes within the department.

The incumbent will also lead program management efforts, including rescue coordination and the community cat program, to support the department's mission of animal welfare and community engagement.

Additionally, the incumbent will assist the Department Chief by actively participating in the administration of various animal services programs and activities.

In this role, the Supervising Animal Services Counselor also acts as a liaison between the department and community groups, private agencies, and other government jurisdictions.

Ideal candidates for this position should possess prior experience as Animal Services Counselors and demonstrate exceptional customer service skills, particularly in a leadership or supervisory capacity.

The Supervising Animal Services Counselor is distinguished from the Senior Animal Services Counselor by the former's responsibility for the full range of supervisory duties.
