Deputy Director of Environmental Health (At-Will)

The Riverside County Department of Environmental Health is seeking a Deputy Director to lead the Department's Business Operations and Finance (BOF) division.

This executive-level position will play a critical role in ensuring the Department's fiscal health and operational efficiency.

The Deputy Director will oversee the day-to-day operations of BOF and be responsible for the following key functions:


* Oversee and evaluate administrative and fiscal productivity.


* Lead the development, submission, and monitoring of the Department's annual budget.


* Conduct monthly revenue and expenditure tracking and provide strategic fiscal analysis.


* Supervise a Program Chief II and Fiscal Manager, who together manage a team of 28 staff.


* Lead and manage department-wide special projects as assigned.

Competitive Candidates Will Possess:


* Familiarity with PeopleSoft financial systems.


* Possession of a valid California Department of Public Health (CDPH) registration as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist .


* General knowledge of Environmental Health regulations, principles, and practices.


* Knowledge of Riverside County policies, procedures, and operational structure.


* Strong knowledge of complex business, financial, and organizational structures.

This class has been designated At-Will by the Board of Supervisors, in accordance with the provisions provided under Article 6, Section 601E (2) of the County Management Resolution and serves at the pleasure of their respective Department Head.

This class has been deemed eligible for the Performance Recognition Plan as set forth under Article 3, Section 311(B) of the County Management Resolution.

Program eligibility requires employees to be in a leadership position, manage other employees or programs, and have significant influence on the achievement of organizational objectives.
