Job responsibilities


* Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors


* Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others


* Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes


* Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus


* Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle


* Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills


* Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience


* Extensive experience in software development, with a strong focus on Java applications and related technologies such as Kafka and Oracle.


* Proven expertise in distributed computing, with a deep understanding of scalability, availability, and consistency concerns.


* Strong system architecture skills, capable of designing and implementing robust, high-performance systems.


* Ability to establish and manage application contracts with other systems interacting with our payment system.


* Demonstrated leadership in owning and managing a large portfolio of applications, with the ability to oversee 90+ applications effectively.


* Experience in payment systems or financial technology, with a solid understanding of industry standards and best practices.


* Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to address complex technical challenges and drive innovative solutions.


* Strong communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.


* Experience with cloud technologies and microservices architecture, with a focus on building scalable and resilient systems.
