Senior Building Inspector
The County of Riverside seeks candidates to fill positions throughout Riverside County.
A list of eligible candidates will be established to fill current and future vacancies.
This position requires possession of a valid International Code Council (ICC) certificate as a Plans Examiner, Combination Inspector (C8), or Building Inspector (B5).
Certifications must be attached to your application.
The County of Riverside's Transportation and Land Management Agency (TLMA) - Building and Safety Department currently has an opening for a Senior Building Inspector position, with opportunities available in the Riverside, Temecula, and Desert regions.
Under general supervision, the Senior Building Inspector performs more complex or specialized inspections; examines residential, commercial, and industrial building and grading plans; assists at the public counter with permit issuance; reviews water quality permit requirements; and performs other related duties as required.
The Senior Building Inspector is the lead-level classification in the Building Inspector series and reports to an appropriate supervisory or management-level position.
Assignments may include one or more of the following: performing complex or specialized inspections; conducting environmental site inspections; serving in a lead capacity over field or office inspection operations; and examining residential, commercial, and industrial building and grading plans to determine conformance with applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.
Competitive candidates will have hands-on experience performing field inspections and overseeing commercial construction projects from start to finish.
Knowledge of the processes involved in tilt-up and multi-story commercial construction, as well as possession of a valid Combination Inspector and/or Commercial Building Inspector certification, is highly desirable.

• Conduct initial and follow-up inspections/investigations pertaining to environmental enforcement, including, but not limited to, water quality, air quality, and habitat conservation, and grading inspections and/or code violations.
