Director of Rooms

Crowne Plaza Hobart is proud to announce a newly created position for a Director Rooms Division, reporting directly to the General Manager.

This is a key executive role responsible for leading our Front Office and Housekeeping departments to deliver exceptional guest experiences and strong commercial outcomes.

About the Role:

As Director Rooms Division, you will be at the forefront of delivering IHG’s signature True Hospitality by overseeing the guest journey from check-in to check-out, while driving performance, compliance, and team culture.

You will manage departmental operations, lead high-performing teams, and play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the hotel.

Key Responsibilities:

People Leadership

Lead, coach, and develop Front Office and Housekeeping teams to deliver excellent service and achieve performance goals.

Plan and assign work schedules, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and colleague capability.

Foster a one-team culture and drive employee engagement through recognition, feedback, and development plans.

Support HR-related actions such as recruitment, training, and performance management.

Financial & Operational Oversight

Oversee the Night Audit function and daily financial reporting.

Assist with the preparation of departmental budgets and forecasts.

Monitor financial transactions, maintain security procedures, and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations.

Use IHG systems to drive occupancy, ADR, and upselling opportunities at the front desk.

Guest Experience

Ensure guests are welcomed with professionalism, recognition, and personal attention.

Respond to guest feedback and complaints in a timely, thoughtful manner.

Lead VIP arrival coordination, special guest requirements, and group scheduling.

Routinely inspect public areas and rooms to uphold quality and brand standards.

Responsible Business & Community Engagement

Act as a communications lead during emergency or crisis situations.

Represent the hotel within the local community and support sustainability efforts.

Partner with marketing and sales teams to increase visibility and brand reputation.

Promote a safe and secure environment for guests and colleagues.

What We’re Looking For:

Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business or related field

Minimum 4 years of hotel/guest service experience, including 2 years in a management capacity

Deep understanding of luxury hospitality operations

Experience with Opera Cloud or equivalent systems

Strong leadership, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills

Genuine passion for people, service, and operational excellence
