Insurance Billing Clerk - CHC-Billing

The County of Riverside's University Health System - Community Health Centers department is seeking a regular Insurance Billing Clerk to join their CHC-Billing team.

Under supervision, the incumbent will be responsible for editing and submitting claims for a diverse payor mix - Medi-Cal, Medicare, Managed Care, Commercial and other government payors, g overnment payors & programs billing guidelines for FQHC, reviewing patient accounts to verify the accuracy of information and make any required changes for proper billing purposes, reviewing and making follow-up determinations on denied claims, customer service - may be required to initiate calls to patients, insurance companies, internal and external departments for billing and follow-up related matters, correspondence review and distribution, interpreting and explaining regulations and legal obligations to internal and external clients, and payment collections ; performing fiscal clerical work processing and billing fiscal intermediaries for medical services rendered to patients; and to do other work as required.

This position is located in Riverside.

* FQHC Billing and Collections practices for Medi-Cal, Medicare, Managed Care, Commercial and other Government payors


* Experience with Epic PAS/EHR


* At least 1 year experience performing Riverside County Revenue and Recovery Technician I job duties


* Detail and goal orientated


* Good verbal and written communication skills

For the first 90 days, this position will have a 5/40 schedule.

Then after 90 days, a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off: Monday through Thursday, 7:00am to 4:30pm; working Fridays from 7:00am to 3:30pm.

•Prepare billing information to third party intermediaries for services rendered or for fees or other related charges; Enter standard or coded data from forms or documents into computer terminal.
•Type a variety of numerical or alphabetical data which may include requisitions, claims, or reports; Review all patient accounts to verify the accuracy of information and make any required changes for proper billing purposes.
•Review patient insurance forms and cards for completeness and accuracy as required by medical assistance programs and private insurance carriers for filling and payment.
•Contact patient's medical insurance carrier to obtain authorization for treatment and to verify eligibility and coverage.
•Respond to requests for account information from patients concerning status of account, patient liability and general billing procedures.
•Check and correct account or numerical records for arithmetical errors or proper coding.
