About the Role

Do you have a passion for operational excellence, leadership, and continuous improvement? We have an exciting opportunity at our Aluminium Smelter in the coastal town of Portland, Victoria, for an experienced professional to join our site leadership team as Casthouse Manager.

Portland offers a unique blend of country-style living and coastal charm, while our smelter leverages best-in-class technologies to support global aluminium production.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation and maintenance of the Ingot Casting Facility.

As part of the location management team, you will lead a high-performing workforce, manage the facility’s budget, and drive strategic initiatives aligned with Alcoa’s goals.

You will foster a culture of safety, promote collaboration across processes, and champion continuous improvement based on a strong understanding of operational needs.

Your leadership will be key in delivering technical and process enhancements that support long-term performance and sustainability.

You are accountable for and will undertake the following duties:


* Establish production targets and quality standards in collaboration with technical teams and external stakeholders.


* Represent the Ingot Mill in strategic planning, business engagement, and cross-functional collaboration to meet operational objectives.


* Lead workforce development, performance planning, and succession strategies to build a capable and engaged team.


* Develop and manage the annual operating and maintenance budget, ensuring financial performance and resource optimisation.


* Foster a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with procedures, leading investigations, and implementing corrective actions.


* Drive continuous improvement through technical and engineering initiatives
