Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will assist the Superintendent in the planning, developing, implementing, and practical management of the maintenance of the Indian Peaks Golf Course.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following duties are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive: Participate in all aspects of golf maintenance program(s) including, but not limited to: equipment maintenance, cultural practices, personnel supervision, purchasing program, facility and/or grounds care, recreational amenities, construction projects and applications of product.
Assist in establishing goals and objectives.
Participate in development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
Contribute to the effectiveness of team decision-making and management by providing information, sharing resources, participating and adapting work schedules to accomplish goals and projects, act as the liaison among Superintendent, staff members and other divisions and departments.
Perform some specialized duties independently; perform a variety of basic to skilled labor and technical assignments.
Supervise and work with a group of employees in various maintenance and operational activities and projects; assign work to each crew member and train employees when required.
Assist workers in resolving individual and work problems; maintain attendance records of assigned employees; compile, review, and approve timecard data; assist in annual performance appraisals and recommend personnel actions.
Assist in interviewing and training the seasonal staff.
Assist in supervising the care and maintenance of assigned areas; may be placed in charge of planning, organizing, and supervision of a specific assigned area.
Assist in evaluating effectiveness of programs; modify the daily work schedule based on professional interpretation during the absence of the Superintendent.
Assist in coordinating annual division budget by monitoring expenditures and revenues; manage account funds, follow guidelines and stay within appropriate stipulated limits; maintain logbooks and records and report annually or upon request.
May act in the capacity of Superintendent; may represent the division at various governmental and professional meetings.
Prepare a variety or reports and projects as requested by the Superintendent.
Perform related work as required and assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE: Working knowledge of general pre-maintenance and maintenance, including reel sharpening and back lapping of golf course equipment; of agronomy, turf grass science, rules of golf, maintenance of golf course greens, tees and fairways; of seeding and maintenance practices for the golf course turf; of planting, cultivating, pruning and caring for plants, shrubs and trees; of the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil amendments; of pesticides and pest control methods and materials; of calibration techniques, drainage control, sprinkler system operation and maintenance,...
