Join a global leader in animal health and make a real difference in animal research! Elanco is seeking a dedicated and experienced Site Veterinarian to join our team at our Yarrandoo facility.
This is a vital role ensuring the highest standards of animal care and welfare within our research environment.
Job Summary:
The Site Veterinarian is responsible for providing comprehensive veterinary services, overseeing animal health and welfare programs, assisting in animal studies, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide direct veterinary support, including health monitoring, treatment, and emergency care for a variety of species.
* Develop and implement animal care programs encompassing breeding, husbandry, socialization, and rehoming.
* Deliver training to personnel on animal handling and clinical techniques.
* Manage biosecurity and biocontainment procedures.
* Participate in audits and inspections.
* Contribute to facility design and improvement efforts.
* Develop and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to animal care.
* Provide out-of-hours and emergency veterinary care as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Essential:
+ DVM or equivalent veterinary degree and current registration (or eligibility for registration) as a veterinary practitioner in NSW.
+ 3+ years of clinical experience with demonstrable skills in both companion and livestock animal medicine.
+ Experience in a teaching, mentoring, or training capacity.
+ Familiarity with research environments.
* Desirable:
+ Proven ability to work collaboratively and independently.
+ Proactive approach to identifying areas for improvement in animal care and welfare practices.
+ Strong commitment to animal welfare.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Additional Information:
* May require additional hours as needed.
* Fluency in English is essential.
