Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Postdoctoral Scientist to join our Neuroscience Discovery group based in San Diego, CA, USA.

The successful candidate will advance in vitro human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived neural modeling efforts as an individual contributor to support our neuropsychiatry portfolio.

The candidate will develop multi-cellular models and assays from patient-derived samples to discover cellular disease phenotypes associated with neuropsychiatric disorders including Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, and Schizophrenia.

They will spend most of their time in the lab planning, conducting, interpreting, and reporting experimental results while interacting with an interdisciplinary team of scientists.

Key Responsibilities:

* Develop, conduct, and interpret in vitro experiments using human iPSC-derived neural cell types (neurons, astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, etc) to investigate cellular development and neural circuit activity.

* Work collaboratively within the Neuroscience therapeutic area and cross-functionally to support ongoing programs.

* Ensure timely and accurate reporting and documentation of data in accordance with company guidelines.

* Contribute to the broader scientific literature as well as internal meetings and external conferences through the publication and presentation of results.

Candidates should have demonstrated expertise optimizing and conducting neural differentiation protocols.

Experience reprogramming primary patient cells to iPSCs is highly preferred.

* Proficiency with a variety of molecular biology and confocal microscopy techniques.

* Proven track record for creative and logical thinking evidenced by contributions to peer-reviewed publications.

* Proactive scientist who will be comfortable working independently as well as collaborating with a multidisciplinary, global research team.
