Job Description
PURPOSE SUMMARY.
Lead and supervise fire and emergency response operations, ensuring the safety and efficiency of personnel, equipment, and facilities.
Coordinate and oversee fire suppression, emergency medical services, and fire prevention efforts.
Manage the performance and development of firefighters through regular training.
Responsible for maintaining station and equipment readiness, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and accurately documenting incidents and training activities.
If assigned to training, the position also develops and manages departmental training programs, evaluates their effectiveness, and ensures alignment with regulatory standards and organizational goals.
Through strong leadership, communication, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, this position supports the overall mission of safeguarding the community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES.
This is a safety sensitive position.
If assigned to Operations 48/96 shift:
1.
Leadership and Supervision
* Coordinate the activities of an assigned fire company in a designated fire district or station.
* Directly oversees a minimum of three (3) firefighters and may oversee career and volunteer personnel.
* Evaluate the efficiency of career personnel by conducting regularly scheduled performance reviews.
* Conducts training for subordinates in the use of equipment and methods of extinguishing fires, emergency rescues, fire prevention, and medical assistance.

Fire and Emergency Response
* Respond to fire alarms, determine the nature and extent of the fire and danger to adjacent buildings, and direct firefighting crews accordingly.
* Perform fire suppression activities, fire prevention, rescue, communications, and emergency medical care.
* Respond to emergency calls and render emergency medical care while coordinating with fire and emergency medical personnel.
