SW-Study Coordinator

Heluna Health and RTI International seek a Study Coordinator to work on a community-based research study about drug use and harm reduction services that involves data collection with people who use drugs in San Francisco, CA. 

The Study Coordinator will supervise field staff and oversee all aspects of data collection at community field sites.

Work will be conducted at multiple community field sites and during street outreach (indoors and outdoors) in San Francisco neighborhoods that are impacted by high levels of drug use.

Work will require some travel.

This is a 50%-time benefitted position (20 hours per week) with some potential hours on weekends and evenings.

Study operating hours will vary during the study period and include some early morning and evening hours.

The current workdays include Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays with hours varying by day from 8:00am to 5:00pm PST.

The study entails approximately three (3) more years of data collection. 

Although the RTI headquarters is in Oakland, travel to data collection sites throughout San Francisco will be required on study operating days.

We are seeking a flexible, detail-oriented, and organized person with strong interpersonal skills who has experience (paid or volunteer) with harm reduction, trauma informed practices, and engagement with people who are homeless, use drugs, and have mental health concerns.

The ideal candidate will have experience with community-based research and feel comfortable working in partnership with community-based organizations.

The pay rate for this position is $36.50 per hour.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


* Schedule, support, and supervise a team made up of an Outreach Worker, a Research Assistant, and two Research Interviewers.


* Organize and supervise all data collection activities, including but not limited to:



* Participant recruitment in street and community settings across San Francisco


* Screening and scheduling studying participants 


* Developing study plans for recruitment, safety/overdose prevention, and mobile data collection


* Transporting all necessary materials & equipment to and from field sites


* Setting up and breaking down field sites


* Managing hospitality and flow of field sites


* Conducting structured, quantitative interviews with research subjects through computerized data collection program (CAPI) on a laptop computer and tablet



* Build relationships with community organizations and create environments of care, respect, and safety for community members participating in the research.


* Develop, update, and stock study referral resource sheets.


* Provide interested study participants with referrals to health and social services.


* Work as part of a team to locate and secure field site locations for data collection across San Francisco.
