Pediatric Specialty Care Psychologist w/Focus on Endocrinology

Nemours Children's Hospital - Delaware invites applicants for a full-time psychologist position within the Division of Psychology, Dept.

of Pediatrics for the Specialty Care team with a focus on endocrinology outpatient services and outpatient pediatric psychology cases for patients established in our multidisciplinary teams.

This position sits within the Division of Psychology in the Department of Pediatrics.

The psychologist will work alongside endocrinologists, advance nurse practitioners, diabetes educators, dieticians, and social work.

Nemours has a well-established Diabetes Collaborative Clinic (DCC) which is a multi-disciplinary, integrated care service.

Both Endocrinology and Psychology providers are available to meet with families to provide a collaborative approach to managing diabetes as well as support emotional and behavioral health.

Common referrals include adjustment to new diagnosis, preparing for periods of transition, family, community, adherence, and assessing mood and behavior concerns.

In addition to the focus on diabetes, the psychologist will have the opportunity to see patients with other endocrine-related challenges (e.g., growth deficiency, thyroid disorders, precocious puberty).

This position will also include outpatient services for patients who are established in medical clinics.

The Specialty Care service clinic receives referrals from multiple specialties (e.g.

Neurology, Audiology, Surgery) for a variety of services such as coping with new medical diagnoses, adherence to treatment, preparing for procedures or surgeries.

There will be opportunities to collaborate with medical teams and attend multidisciplinary meetings.

The psychologist also will join our active and expanding Inpatient Consultation/Liaison Service.

Attending psychologists rotate weekly along with psychology trainees, and the psychologist will be part of that rotation.

The Inpatient C/L Service completes consults and provides ongoing care for inpatients in medical beds, with consults from multiple services (e.g., endocrinology, gastroenterology, surgery, pulmonology).

The psychologist will provide psychosocial assessment, recommendations, and problem-focused interventions for children on the inpatient medical units.

The psychologist will provide supervision and training to residents (pre-doctoral interns) and fellows within several milieu, including DCC, pediatric psychology outpatient therapy, and inpatient service.

Teaching, training, and mentoring are core values in our division and these efforts are supported and encouraged.

The psychologist will participate in quality improvement initiatives, program development, and other efforts to ensure the sustainability of their service.

In addition, there will be opportunities for research.

This role involves teaching and presentation of relevant topics to colleagues, trainees, medical staff, and patients.
