Communications Specialist

Position Summary

The Communications Specialist is responsible for leading the development and execution of open enrollment and marketing communications.

This role supports client-specific strategies and broader organizational initiatives through writing, design, project management, and collaboration with internal teams, clients, and vendors.

Key Duties and Responsibilities


* Leads planning and execution of open enrollment communications, including benefit guides, member materials, educational decks, and digital content (September through December).


* Collaborates with account teams and clients to identify communication opportunities and recommend tailored strategies.


* Manages project timelines, approvals, and workflows to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality materials.


* Coordinates with vendors for printing and distribution, and quality assurance, while maintaining positive vendor relationships


* Develops and distributes client newsletters, educational campaigns, and marketing collateral.

Ensures consistency in messaging, voice, and branding across all client- and member-facing materials.


* Supports organizational marketing initiatives, including copywriting, presentation materials, event preparation, digital content development, and creation of social media assets.


* Assists with developing proposals and RFP responses by formatting, proofreading, and maintaining sample libraries.


* Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications


* Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.


* Two years or more of relevant experience in marketing, communications, or client services role, ideally in a regulated or benefits-related environment.


* Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail.


* Strong verbal and written communication skills; confident public speaker.


* Ability to translate complex ideas into clear and compelling content.


* Excellent interpersonal skills with experience collaborating across internal teams, leadership, and clients.


* Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.


* Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with Adobe, SharePoint, Canva, Salesforce, Monday, and Smartsheet.

Preferred Qualifications


* Basic understanding of healthcare or benefits terminology.


* Knowledge of Taft-Hartley benefit administration.


* Project management experience with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
