Summer Temporary - Driver, CDL

Pay: $21.39 per hour

Work Schedule/Work Hours: Up to 30 hours/week; 8-10 hours/day; Monday, Wednesday, Friday

This job is eligible for Paid Sick and Safe Time (PSST) under the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act.

This position is part of the nation’s AbilityOne Program.

AbilityOne is one of the largest sources of employment for people who are blind or have significant disabilities.

Through nonprofit agencies (such as Discover Goodwill), the program provides products and services such as janitorial and commercial laundry.

The program also requires that 75% of the services provided are to be completed by individuals who meet the AbilityOne requirements (blind or have significant disabilities).

OBJECTIVE:

To operate vehicles in a safe manner necessary in order to support the mission of the organization.

Drive the delivery truck, picking up and delivering goods to customers on scheduled routes.

It is preferred that the incumbent have excellent communication skills and demonstrate the ability to interact with the Project Manager, Supervisor, Laundry Workers and customers at the pickup/delivery sites.

The Truck Driver must maintain a professional attitude, appropriate hygiene, dress and grooming and be punctual and dependable.

Incumbent must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, bend and stoop at frequent intervals, push and pull carts weighing up to 600 pounds.  CLASS B CDL is preferred but not required.

* An interest and empathy for people with disadvantages and disabilities.


* Minimum of two years of truck driving experience with a safe record is essential.


* A Current CLASS B CDL is preferred but not required


* Able to obtain medical examination card. 


* Able to do occasional overtime.


* Per contract requirements with vehicle insurance provider: Qualified candidates must be 21 years of age and have no major traffic violations for previous 3 years (for driving/insurance purposes). Must have reliable transportation; must also be able to operate company vehicle.
