Vacuum Coater Equipment Specialist

Guardian Glass is looking for a Vacuum Coater Equipment Specialist to join our regional Operations Excellence team!

This role can be based out of any of our North American Float Glass Plants.

In this role, you will evaluate hardware, maintenance, and skill sets alongside local teams and SMEs to ensure optimal operations and upkeep for coater washers, conveyance systems, and the vacuum coater hardware of Guardian's large area vacuum coaters.

What You Will Do


* Improve quality, performance, and throughput of our coaters by working with local team members and SMEs to develop, refine, and deploy proven practices for operating our glass washers, thin film coaters, and ancillary equipment.


* Support sites to overcome challenges by following a disciplined process of problem solving.


* Serve as an SME, working with our scientists, to ensure glass surface preparation meets the requirements of our new and existing products.


* Serve as a Technical SME to our production coating teams to troubleshoot process or product issues.


* Clearly present and communicate ideas, concepts, and plans across multiple levels.


* Work in multi-cultural and cross-functional teams.


* Collaborate with Global Operations on identifying, documenting, and implementing best practices in thin film process technology, as well as product launches and transfers.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)


* Experience with maintenance, troubleshooting, and asset strategy of glass washers, vacuum coaters, and ancillary equipment.


* Experience working at an equipment manufacturer, or large area coating operations with significant experience in running, maintaining washers and ancillary equipment.


* Ability to travel 25-50% (predominantly domestic with occasional international).

What Will Put You Ahead


* Experience in operating and maintaining large-area vacuum coaters.


* Experience conducting design and process failure modes and effects analysis.


* Experience contributing to complex projects, analyzing problems, and developing corrective actions.


* Vacuum coater sputter process experience.

For this role, we anticipate paying $100,000-$130,000 per year.
