Utility Engineer II

SWL&P is seeking a Utility Engineer II to join our technical services team to plan, design, and oversee the construction, maintenance, and operation of Gas and Water utility infrastructure projects.

This role ensures the efficient delivery of safe, clean water and reliable gas services to customers while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and optimizing system performance.

When you join SWL&P's technical services team as a Utility Engineer II, you will collaborate with other engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies to support the utility's mission of providing safe and reliable services to the community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


* Develop and review designs for water distribution systems, gas pipelines, treatment facilities, storage tanks, pumping stations, and pressure regulation systems.


* Prepare, review, and approve engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for capital improvement projects for both water and gas infrastructure.


* Manage water and gas utility projects from conception to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and quality control.


* Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure projects meet technical and regulatory requirements.


* Conduct and review hydraulic modeling for water systems and flow analysis for gas systems to optimize performance.


* Analyze system performance for both water and gas utilities and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.


* Ensure all designs, operations, and projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including EPA, Wisconsin DNR, PHMSA (Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration) and Wisconsin PSC (Public Service Commission) regulations.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:


* Bachelor's degree in engineering, or equivalent, is required.
+ Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering is strongly preferred.
+ Preferred qualifications include possession of, or eligibility for, a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Wisconsin.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:


* Four years or more of related engineering experience
