Hotel Indigo Torquay is on the lookout for a dynamic Sous Chef to inspire and lead in our brand-new, highly anticipated hotel opening.

Hotel Indigo Torquay, opening in 2025, promises a stimulating new addition to this idyllic coastal town.

Nestled along the stunning English Riviera, the hotel will offer guests breathtaking views of Tor Bay and access to some of Torquay’s most iconic beaches and walking trails where you can truly appreciate nature.

Close to local attractions, including the historic Torre Abbey and the lively harbour, guests can also indulge in the region's renowned culinary scene featuring fresh seafood and artisanal delights.

Hotel Indigo will provide a unique and memorable experience, offering a tonic for the body, imagination and soul; capturing the spirit of this longstanding English seaside location.

As a Sous Chef, your day-to-day will be driven by our Guests needs, however you can expect to cover the following duties and responsibilities (not all encompassing) …


* Working closely with our Restaurant and Bars manager to ensure a coordinated F&B approach


* Being accountable for the Kitchen operation including production, cleanliness and safe systems of work in the absence of our Executive Head Chef


* Creating and developing dishes on our menu to celebrate local cuisine and keep up to date with food trends 


* Develop and support our Chef team, training and upskilling our Chefs to ensure everyone is able to provide excellent culinary experiences for our guests

We are searching for a true service superstar, someone who thrives in providing our Guests with an excellent service throughout their stay.

In addition to this, we are looking for someone who has….


* Availability to work 40 hours per week (5 shifts) across a variety of shifts based on business needs


* To have been a Senior Chef De Partie or Sous Chef within a similar sized property 


* To have completed level 3 Food Safety certification and have knowledge in HACCP


* Knowledge of appropriate systems to support operational processes– such as Micros Simphony (or relevant POS) and Procure Wizard 


* Knowledge of appropriate working to brand standards relating to food and the ability to create and deliver appropriate menus, using appropriate suppliers and product


* To be part of external networks and up to date with critical issues and trends in food


* Technical skills to work on every section for every service period in the kitchen
