Project Environmental Scientist - Wetlands and Ecology

As a Project Environmental Scientist, you will join our Environment Business Line in any office around the Boston area, where you’ll play a key role in delivering vital infrastructure projects across the Northeast.

Our Wetlands and Ecology Team and Projects   
Our Environmental Services team, composed of experienced professionals, provides comprehensive environmental permitting, planning, and compliance monitoring services across a range of projects.

Our technical experts specialize in freshwater and coastal wetland delineations, environmental impact assessments, and wildlife and fishery habitat evaluations.

We lead initiatives in climate change resiliency, wetland and ecological restoration, dam removal, and streambank stabilization.

Our work also includes rare species permitting, all aimed at ensuring sustainable development and environmental stewardship for our clients.

What You’ll Be Doing 
•    Perform a combination of field work, technical report preparation, and studies  
•    Perform natural resource surveys including wetland delineations and functional assessments, wildlife habitat evaluations and rare species surveys, including soil characterization and plant species identification 
•    Coordinate with field teams performing ecological and wetlands surveys and construction inspections 
•    Coordinate with client and project teams while planning projects and developing local, state and federal permit applications  
•    Present project permit applications to local Conservation Commissions 

What You’ll Need  
•    At least 5 years of experience working in environmental consulting or a similar field 
•    A Bachelor's degree in an environmental or natural sciences field with coursework in ecology, hydrology, botany, and soils 
•    Demonstrated experience with wetlands permitting at the federal, state, and local level 
•    Technical writing and presentation skills 
•    You should like being outside, and have the willingness to work in physically challenging outdoor situations in all types of weather and traveling on an as-needed basis to project sites 
•    Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and your own transportation 

Preferred Requirements  
•    Experience with conducting wetland delineations and certifications including Registered Soil Scientist and Professional Wetland Scientist
