Revenue and Recovery Technician I - DPSS

The Riverside County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) is excited to invite applications for the position of Revenue and Recovery Technician I.

This position will be based in Riverside and will play a crucial role in our Finance and Forecasting division.

The Revenue and Recovery Technician I position focuses on the support of the collection of overpayments and over issuances for DPSS.

Key responsibilities include managing a high volume of client interactions, negotiating repayment plans for outstanding accounts, assist in initiating civil proceedings, advising clients on repayments.

The Revenue and Recovery Technician I will assist with caseloads to ensure timely account management, assist the District Attorney's office with criminal cases, and enforce collection actions on delinquent accounts.

Ideal candidates will possess in-depth knowledge of the civil legal collection process, ability to negotiate repayments, possess exceptional customer service experience and experience with high call volumes.

Candidates with prior collections experience within CalSAWS and social service programs are strongly encouraged to apply.

Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required for this position.

The Riverside County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) provides services and assistance to protect and empower vulnerable people in our community.• Determine or verify address, employment, earnings, assets, and other financial information through correspondence or interviews with responsible parties; utilize various skip-tracing techniques and contact public and private agencies to obtain further information on the clients' whereabouts, financial status, and employment history; carry out the recovery of money owed by letter, telephone contact, or personal interview.

• Interpret and explain regulations and legal obligations to clients; set up payment schedules; monitor accounts for payment; make recommendations regarding the resolution of delinquent accounts.

• Review and make follow-up determinations on incoming mail; draft original correspondence to clients; may collect and receipt money under supervision.

• Receive instruction in the gathering of information to be used in obtaining legal action against clients; may file legal actions; may accompany the Revenue and Recovery Technician II to court hearings involving the failure of clients to pay debts.Education: Graduation from high school or attainment of a satisfactory score on G.E.D.
