Senior Accountant
5% added premium pay for those who possess a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and/or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
The County of Riverside's Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder (ACR) is seeking to fill a Senior Accountant position in the Accounting and Finance Division located in Riverside.
The incumbent will be responsible for developing budgets, preparing quarterly reports, and setting rates and fees through cost analysis and forecasting.
This position manages complex fiscal recordkeeping systems, ensures compliance with accounting policies, and assists in revising and implementing financial systems.
The role also provides guidance on accounting and budgetary matters, supports special projects, and performs daily and monthly reconciliation of deposits-particularly between the Treasurer's Office and internal systems such as Eagle Recorder.
Additional responsibilities include approving deposits, assigning accounting strings for purchases, and working closely with procurement staff, supervisors, and managers.
The most competitive candidates will have experience with internal financial systems in a government setting, particularly with platforms such as MIP Fund Accounting, Eagle Recorder, Simpler, and Sherpa.
These systems are essential for managing budgets, reconciling financial transactions, analyzing accounting data, and processing quarterly and annual budget adjustments.
The Senior Accountant is the advanced journey and lead-level classification in the professional Accountant series and reports to a supervisory or managerial position.
Senior Accountants are utilized in County departments requiring extensive technical knowledge and the exercise of independent judgment to perform complex accounting or auditing work.
They may serve in a lead capacity or as a project leader over lower-level professional, paraprofessional, and clerical staff, but retain primary responsibility for completing specific accounting or auditing assignments.
The Senior Accountant is distinguished from the Supervising Accountant classification in that the latter has full supervisory responsibility over professional, paraprofessional, and clerical staff within a department's accounting operations.
Advancement to the next level is obtained through a competitive selection process via open recruitment.
