Mechanical Engineer - Primoris Engineering

We are thrilled to announce an outstanding opportunity for a Licensed Professional Engineer to join our team at our Engineering office in Houston! In this role, you’ll work closely with leading customers in the onshore oil & gas transportation sector, spanning upstream, midstream, and petrochemical markets.

The core focus of this office is Facilities and Pipelines, including Pump Stations, Compressor Stations, CO2 Capture Facilities, Tank Farms, Terminals (Loading/Unloading Truck, Rail, Marine), Pipeline Facilities (Traps, valve sites, meter sites, tie-ins, etc.), Upstream production pads, gathering pipelines and tank batteries.

Typical Job Responsibilities  


* Rotating and Static Equipment- Sizing Calculations for specialty items.  For Packaged equipment: prepare RFQ packages on Mechanical equipment including Datasheets and specifications, Technical Bid Evaluations, Vendor Drawing reviews interface with equipment vendors, provide clarifications for vendors, review/approve vendor drawings


* Pipe, Valves, Fittings - Pipe stress analysis (Caesar II), Pipe/Valve specifications, material and coating specifications, hydrotest calcs, BOM for purchase


* P&ID Development- Providing support to process in the development of P&IDs, as applicable


* Hydraulic Analysis- Flow assurance calculations for steady state and transient piping systems.


* Pipeline Engineering- pipeline design, HDD stress calculations, hydrofracture calcs, bending and wall-thinning calcs, Buoyancy, HCA/MCA/Class Locations, routing and workspace design, Crossings, Alignment sheet development with Mapping team


* Ensure project is in compliance with applicable codes and client standards.


* Interface with Design team- Equipment layout, 30/60/90 Model Reviews, IFR and IFC development, cross-discipline checking


* Interface with the Project Management team and provide progressing, scheduling and budgeting support


* Review and QA/QC all Mechanical and Piping deliverables


* PE Sign/Seal final documentation for permits and construction, as applicable

Required Qualifications (representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for the position)  


* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.

Petroleum, Chemical or other degrees accepted with applicable experience.


* Experience working closely with designers.  In-office participation is required.

Need to have excellent communication skills.


* Client interfacing role may be required if assigned as a Lead.  Professionalism and ability to communicate effectively is required.


* 5+ years of experience with midstream facilities or pipelines in the US


* Travel not mandatory, but this role may require occasional site visits or client meetings


* Experience with static and rotating equipment i.e.

compressors, pumps, valves, traps...
