DESCRIPTION
The Transportation Director will oversee the daily management, operations, and business development for the roadway and bridge departments of the Louisville, KY Office.
This role involves leading a team of engineers and designers in the design and plan preparation for a variety of transportation improvement projects for both public and private clients in Kentucky, as well as forging partnership and teaming with surrounding Michael Baker Offices and consultant teaming partners.
Projects may include highways, roadways, bridges, traffic systems, transit, aviation, and more.
The Director will also focus on overall growth and development, as well as maintaining positive client relationships.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Oversee department projects to ensure they meet agreed-upon scope, budget, and schedule.
* Lead, assign, and review the work of the project delivery team, providing technical guidance and oversight for transportation project designs.
* Ensure department compliance with quality management and quality assurance practices.
* Coach, develop, and mentor staff, attracting and retaining highly talented transportation professionals.
* Coordinate business development activities to support overall growth objectives, including project pursuits, client outreach, marketing, teaming arrangements, capture planning, proposal development and review, and interview preparation and delivery.
* Lead strategic planning and build relationships with key client decision-makers, staying ahead of upcoming project advertisements and changes within client organizations.
* Be an active and visible member of the Kentucky transportation industry through professional organization involvement.
* Maintain and enhance existing client relationships, generate additional opportunities with current clients, and develop new clients.
Monitor client satisfaction both internally and externally.
* Coordinate with Great Lakes Region transportation leadership on resource planning, business development, and project execution.
* Serve as a project manager on multi-discipline transportation design projects.
* Monitor and control the department's annual operating budget.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
* Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master's Degree is a plus).
* Kentucky Professional Engineer's (PE) license.
* 25+ years of transportation design experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
