Job Description

Process engineering position focused on the manufacturing of the phosphor-coated fiber optics.

Responsibilities include:


* Optimizing manufacturing processes and equipment to reduce touch time, minimize cost, and increase yield.


* Working with Operations group to manage process improvement, defect analysis, and operator training.


* Working in cross functional team settings to minimize or eliminate safety, quality, delivery, and productivity problems.


* Conducting failure analysis of components to determine root cause and implement corrective actions.


* Increase image intensifier performance (Phosphor Efficiency, Resolution, MTF, etc.) as part of cross-functional team.

Qualifications



* Ability to obtain a Security Clearance


* BS in Chemical, Mechanical or Materials Engineering or equivalent experience with critical thinking and problem-solving skills


* 2 years of technical experience or academic research in optics or related field


* Effective analytical and communication skills


* Proficiency in statistical analysis techniques and SPC


* Proficiency with designing structured experimentation


* Ability to work and collaborate well with others with a range of technical capabilities from process operators to production supervisors to engineering colleagues

Preferred:


* Proficiency in optics manufacturing processes (grinding, polishing, inspection)


* Six Sigma certification


* Experience writing complex MS Access queries


* Proficiency with statistical analysis software; Minitab, JMP, SAS...


* Ability to collaborate with all facets of the Night Vision organization


* Comfortable with self-initiating business and professional improvements
