Description & Requirements

Maximus is looking for a Security Operator.

Job-Specific Minimum Responsibilities:


* Investigate and analyze all response activities related to cyber incidents within the network environment or enclave.


* Collect data from a variety of Computer Network Defense (CND) tools, including intrusion detection system alerts, firewall and network traffic logs, and host system logs to analyze events that occur within their environment.


* Provide operations for persistent monitoring of all designated networks, enclaves, and systems.


* Interpret, analyze, and report all events and anomalies in accordance with computer network directives, including initiating, responding, and reporting discovered events.


* Execute first level responses and addresses reported or detected incidents.


* Distribute directives, vulnerability, and threat advisories.

Job-Specific Minimum Requirements:



* Understanding of network protocols, IP addressing, and network devices (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls)


* Familiarity with basic cybersecurity concepts, such as threat types, attack vectors, and security best practices.


* Proficiency in using security monitoring tools and technologies, such as Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and intrusion prevention systems (IPS).


* Basic skills in incident response, including recognizing and responding to security alerts, and following incident response procedures.


* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to investigate security incidents and identify potential threats.


* Meticulous attention to detail to accurately monitor and analyze security events and logs.


* Willingness to stay updated with the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies through continuous learning and professional development.


* University Degree (BA/BS) in related field or equivalent experience.

Job-Specific Preferred Skills:



* DoD 8570 IAT Level II or III Certification


* Good verbal and written communication skills to effectively report and document security incidents and findings.
