Underwriting Assistant

The main purpose of the Underwriting Assistant is to support new business and renewal activities in the servicing of aviation insurance policies, and work under the supervision of the AVP of Underwriting Services with additional oversight by Management.

Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:


* Entering and linking data submitted by producers for quoting (Referred to internally as processing “pre-quotes”)


* Coordinate with fellow service underwriters for diaries and suspense, as well as issuing notices to insureds and producers


* Manage service underwriting confirmations of coverage bound for renewals and new business


* Issue certificates of insurance, endorsement confirmations for premium endorsements, notices of cancellation, policies, binders, invoicing and claims, etc., as appropriate


* Review forms, policies, and endorsements for accuracy and completion


* Create policy wording for special situations


* Answer phones and respond to agent inquiries regarding policies and quotes, depending on company needs and experience


* Basic file management and clerical duties


* Follow all safety rules and regulations


* Complete all responsibilities as required, both on-time and accurately


* In addition to the above key responsibilities, you may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as the Company may reasonably require.

Technical Knowledge and Understanding:


* Proficient typing and computer skills and knowledge of administrative procedures, including experience in Microsoft Office suite and data management systems. 


* Must be willing to learn basics of JetFile insurance management system


* Previous experience or basic understanding of JetFile insurance management system preferred

Experience:


* High school diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred 


* Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance License – current and valid in the state of Washington, preferred


* A minimum of 3 years previous office experience in a progressively responsible insurance field, and possess technical insurance knowledge, required
