Position Overview

The Apprentice Teacher will receive close mentorship under a Lead Teacher, serve as a full staff member and thought partner in their respective school, and take on progressive teaching responsibilities over the academic year.

Duties/Responsibilities

Curriculum Development and Instruction


* Supports Lead Teachers with tutoring, grading, and individual or small group student instruction.


* Observe Lead Teachers improve instructional techniques and classroom management.


* Periodically plan and deliver instruction, gradually taking on more responsibility throughout the year.


* In collaboration with the grade level team, plan and execute a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum that assesses students' progress.


* Provide the Lead Teacher with support in instruction, assessments, grading, and other classroom responsibilities.

Commitment to School and Classroom Culture


* Establish, cultivates, and maintains a collaborative relationship with the Lead Teacher


* Help to co-lead advisory/homeroom in the morning and afternoon


* Supervise students during transitions, breakfast, lunch, and afterschool


* Help develop school-wide culture that best fits the needs of our students, teachers and families


* Attend and participate in all staff meetings and communicate openly with staff


* Develop positive rapport with students


* Create and foster a positive and calm learning environment


* Enforce, uphold, and exhibit school's values, student management policies and culture

Family Engagement


* Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents and share progress


* Be available for open houses, parent teacher conferences and other events involving parents


* Make him/herself available to students, parents and other staff members
