Position Overview

The Senior Manager of People Operations: Employee Engagement is responsible for the overall support and management of the organization's employee relations, compliance, performance management, compliance and regulatory reporting, and engagement practices and protocols.

Duties/Responsibilities

Employee Relations and Conflict Resolution


* Provides a broad range of professional employee relations activities, including employee consulting, training, conflict resolution, complaint investigation, policy interpretation, and preparing and delivering related summary reports and recommendations.


* Serves as the initial contact and liaison for intake and assessment of employee complaints.


* Conducts initial interviews and gathers information for employee relations matters such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other concerns; informs appropriate HR staff when additional investigation is required.


* Coaches and advises employees and management through sensitive HR issues to resolve conflict and seek workable solutions.


* Conducts individual and/or group facilitation to foster effective communication and healthy workplace relationships among employees and management.


* Investigates work-related or compliance issues and prepares summary reports, conclusions, and recommendations.


* Conducts Stay and Exit interviews regarding employee experience and investigates matters that are not in alignment with KIPP or do not adhere to the law or organizational policies.


* Advises and trains leaders on best employee relations practices and strategies for managing concerns and employee grievances, including training on employment laws and legal affairs.


* Negotiates employment separations and represents KIPP Capital Region at employee-related hearings, mediations, and depositions alongside the Director of Human Resources.

Compliance and Legal Affairs


* Maintains knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to EEO, affirmative action, collective bargaining, unions, labor relations, and human resources.
