Job Description:

We are searching for the best talent for a Staff Engineer, R&D, to be in Irvine, CA.

Purpose: The Staff Engineer, R&D will be supporting a dynamic, fast-paced, close-knit team supporting a Left Atrial Appendage (LAA) closure system.

 Project support includes design and documentation of effective and efficient tools, fixtures, and machines for the manufacture of Company products and assists in the design and testing of company products in the feasibility stage.

Project support includes overall design, design for manufacturing (DFM), test method development, and product verification and validation testing.

 A passion for hands-on problem solving is a must.

You will be responsible for:


* Provide process validation and tooling qualification leadership with the goal of product commercialization.


* Develop and execute work procedures, work instructions, protocols and reports with little supervision.


* Study specifications, engineering drawings, tool designs, and shop data, and confer with engineering and shop personnel to resolve design problems related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, service requirements, manufacturing procedures, and cost reductions.


* Develop concepts, designs, and details for machines, tools, and fixtures for DFM and component inspections.


* Interfacing between external vendors and core team members.


* Provide technical mentoring to junior engineers.


* Plan, develop, coordinate, and perform engineering projects as assigned.


* Conduct complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures.


* Work hands-on to both manufacture and evaluate feasibility of prototypes.


* Responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all federal, state, local and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance.


* Other technical assignments as assigned to support the successful execution of the Product Development Process (PDP).

Qualifications / Requirements:


* Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree required, Advanced Degree strongly preferred.
