Pulp Dryer Operating Technician

Georgia Pacific is hiring a Pulp Mill Operating Technician for our New Augusta/Leaf River facility.

This position creates value by safely operating process equipment machinery to meet or exceed the mill's production and quality goals.

They will also be required to attend and complete mandatory and ongoing trainings, as well as participate on the Fire & Rescue team.

This position will typically work a 12-hour rotating shift which may include weekends and holidays.

The starting rate is $26.66 per hour but employees have the opportunity to earn up to $40.97 per hour as they progress in their roles.

What You Will Do


* Operating and troubleshooting the equipment within the scope of operations for the Pulp Dryer


* Progressing through multiple skill levels in a timely manner to develop knowledge of all the operating systems in the Pulp Dryer


* Performing equipment cleanup and operator basic care to include minor maintenance tasks


* Monitoring process variables to maintain efficient Pulp Dryer operations and meet department quality, cost, and production goals


* Participates in the mill fire brigade and hazard material teams


* Maintains strict adherence to safety rules & regulations to include wearing required safety equipment

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)


* Two years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment (includes oil field experience) OR associate degree in Process Operations or Electrical/Instrumentation


* Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel for data entry and document creation

What Will Put You Ahead



* Two-year technical degree/certification in manufacturing technology or industrial manufacturing


* Operational experience in a Pulp or Paper Mill


* Industrial lift truck certification
