Platform Engineer

Description

The Snowflake Platform Engineer will assist in developing and maintaining our Snowflake data warehouse, supporting data pipelines, and ensuring data availability for analytics and reporting.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience with Snowflake, work alongside senior team members, and build a foundation in modern data engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Platform Support: Assist in building and maintaining Snowflake data warehouse components, including tables, views, and basic data models.

Data Pipeline Assistance: Help develop and test ETL/ELT processes to ingest and transform data using Snowflake and related tools.

Query Development: Write and optimize basic SQL queries to support data preparation and reporting needs.

Monitoring: Monitor data pipeline performance and assist in troubleshooting issues under the guidance of senior engineers.

Documentation: Contribute to documenting processes, configurations, and workflows to support team knowledge sharing.

Learning & Growth: Actively participate in team training, code reviews, and mentorship sessions to build expertise in Snowflake and data engineering.

Required Qualifications:

Experience: 1-2 years of experience in data-related roles (e.g., internships, academic projects, or entry-level positions) or a strong foundational knowledge of databases and SQL.

Technical Skills:

Basic understanding of SQL and relational database concepts.

Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) or willingness to learn.

Exposure to Snowflake (e.g., through coursework, personal projects, or internships).

Exposure to data warehousing or ETL processes is a plus.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Curiosity: A strong desire to learn and grow in data engineering, with an interest in Snowflake and cloud technologies.

Team Player: Ability to collaborate effectively and take direction from senior team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and tools like Terraform or Git.

Familiarity with dbt (data build tool) for data transformation workflows is a plus.

Basic scripting skills in Python or a similar language.

Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) or data pipeline tools.
