POSITION SUMMARY : To assist in the management and direction of the Nursing Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator, the Director of Nursing and Medical Director, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

As the Assistant Director of Nursing, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

• Supports Nurse Management in the supervision and management of the day-to-day functions of the nursing department in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.
• Supervises nursing service personnel to ensure that they perform their jobs in accordance with the Nursing Services Policies and Procedures Manual.


* Makes written and oral reports/recommendations to the DON as necessary/required, concerning the operation of the nursing department.


* Manages admissions, transfers, and discharges of residents.


* Responds to resident or resident family concerns or complaints.


* Ensures that Medical Director or attending physicians are contacted as needed and assists physicians during facility visits.


* Completes resident accident/incident reports as necessary.


* Interprets Nursing Services Policies and Procedures Manual for personnel, residents, visitors, and government agencies as required.


* Perform administrative duties such as completing forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., as necessary.


* Ensures that a sufficient number of nursing personnel are present during shift and facilitates replacements as needed.


* Responds to employee concerns or complaints.


* Supervises nursing service personnel to ensure that they perform their jobs in accordance with their job descriptions and workplace policies.



* Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information.


* Monitor nursing care to ensure that all residents are treated fairly, and with kindness, dignity and respect.
