RN Supervisor Primary Care

Job Summary

Assists physicians and office leadership with clinical and administrative duties.

Supports clinical staff and assists with coordination of patient care to deliver high quality patient experience.

Performs assigned nursing duties under the direction of physician.

Utilizes effective problem-solving strategies, applies evidence-based practice, and a multidisciplinary approach in the plan of care.

Provides rapid assessment, treatment, patient and family education, and assures continuity of care through the discharge planning process.

Accountable for formal and informal staff education, orientation, and initial/annual competencies.

Identifies learning needs, develops and implements educational strategies, and evaluates learning effectiveness.

Supervises the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and attitudes to support the provision of safe and high-quality care.

Job Specific Duties


* Coordinates and monitors patient flow, utilizing appropriate resources and facilitates the processes in a timely manner.


* Provides education and documents on patient/family teachings based on health-related needs.


* Ensures safe/effective/efficient care delivery with emphasis on absence of medication errors & blood borne infections, avoidance of falls from surface, ouch-free procedural pain, & reduction of pain.


* Demonstrates proper personal protective equipment (PPE) indication and use.


* Reviews medication/immunization orders.

Prepares, administers, and documents medication administration according to policy.


* Processes refills as directed by provider and written protocols.


* Develops, coordinates, monitors, facilitates, conducts, evaluates and supervises new employee progress during orientation period.


* Fosters staff empowerment and open communication, leads and guides staff to build a high performance, and engaged team.


* Functions as a patient advocate and provides family support.

Ensures parent education, diagnosis-related discharge planning, and wellness training (parenting skills).


* Accountable for completion of the annual competency assessment process and plan through collaboration with nurse leaders, Learning & Development department, and regulatory leaders.


* Applies evidence-based practices to orientation and ongoing education, applying adult learning and education principles.


* Ensures all staff is adhering to the Health System policies and procedures.


* Supports and upholds the Hospital Mission, Vision, Values and Guiding Behavior, Patient Bill of Rights, and the Code of Business and Ethical Conduct.


* Provides timely mentoring and coaching to clinical staff supervising the quality of care.


* Communicates and documents pertinent information (verbal and/or electronic) in a timely manner to the Ambulatory Health System Leaders including nursing, medical, and operations.
