Manager of Laboratory Operations

The Laboratory Manager provides leadership to employees, team scheduling and oversight within their section.

They are the coordination point for cross-sectional laboratory projects, resources, and staffing.

Additionally, the Laboratory Manager reinforces the execution of the company strategy and ensures a culture of continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.

Sections:

We currently have sections with open leadership needs, resulting from several internal promotions.


* Packaging: provides successful validations encompassing multiple product, package and sterilization configurations throughout the medical and pharmaceutical industries.

We use proven state-of-the-art technology to provide fast and accurate results.


* Healthcare Reprocessing (Swing Shift): offers a full range of medical device cleaning, disinfection and sterilization validation services to validate manufacturers' reprocessing instructions for reusable devices.

This is essential to ensuring that medical devices processed in a health care setting are safe for their intended use or reuse.


* Media: provides full support to testing laboratory sections including sterilized glassware, hand tools and other equipment used in Medical Device testing, formulation of liquid culture media of all types heavily utilized in various testing phases.


* People on Demand (POD): a team of "floating" Lab Analysts and Study Directors whose purpose is to support multiple Laboratory Sections in need of additional support.

Our POD team allows Lab Sections to maintain consistent production levels in the face of increased demand, staffing shortages or employee time off/leave.

This section allows Nelson Labs to maintain service levels to clientele, minimizing disruption due to common barriers.

Education and experience requirements:

Required:


* Bachelor's degree in a relevant Science Discipline: Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, etc.


* Team Leadership experience in a production testing laboratory or similar field

Preferred (Not Required)


* Industry experience in Laboratory Testing, Medical Device/Pharmaceutical Testing, and/or Healthcare Operations preferred

Essential job functions:


* Lead and manage a team of laboratory analysts and study directors, ensuring high performance and a positive, purposeful culture.


* Develop and manage weekly schedules to support lab operations, adjusting schedules as needed to address daily changes and proactively solving issues.


* Manage timecards and paid time off requests.


* Onboard internal team members, facilitate cross-training, and identify training opportunities to enhance team skills and capabilities.


* Monitor performance, provide coaching, and oversee performance management, including disciplinary actions, and foster continuous improvement.
